TAHQUAMENON WILDERNESS CANOE RACE
"The Great Race from the Lower Falls to Lake Superior" is the perfect way to start the morning. This 17 1/2 mile, two-person (C-2) canoe race starts at 10:00 AM. A shorter (6 1/2 mile) one-person race (C-1) begins at 3:30 PM at the Tahquamenon River Mouth. The day's events conclude with a banquet and awards program. TAHQUAMENON COUNTRY SLED DOG RACE
Qualifying Race for the UP 200. Begins and ends at the Muskallonge Lake State Park campground area. With an estimated purse of some $8,000 paid to the PRO Class, the trails include a few steep hills and varied terrain with spectacular winter scenery. ICE FESTIVAL
Join us this weekend to celebrate ICE! Start your weekend with dinner at one of our great restaurants: The Inn, Gastropub and Smokehouse, The Silver Grill & Pub, or Tahquamenon Brewery & Pub and Camp 33. Then catch a classic movie, 8 Below at the Whitefish Township Community Library. The movie and popcorn is free and begins at 7PM.

Saturday gets started right with a hearty breakfast of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, gravy and biscuits, coffee and juice at the Breakfast prepared and served by the Whitefish Township EMS.

Join the ICE Sculpture Contest, or attend the ICE Swap Meet.

To warm up, you might consider the Chili Cook-Off held at the community center beginning at Noon, then head out to the Polar Plunge. Are you game? You can start collecting pledges today then bring your waiver as well and join in the fun! The Polar Plunge is a fund raiser for our local Fire Department, so come out and jump in.

Run from the Whitefish Township Emergency Services facility upbound(north) on Whitefish Point Road to Whitefish Point, then back to Whitefish Township Community Center, located across the road from the starting point. TWO HEARTED TRAIL RUN
A 50K, Half & Full Marathon routed in the remote northeastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Two Hearted River captured the imagination of Nobel Laureate Ernest Hemingway who wrote "The Big Two Hearted River" about the adventures of Nick Adams who departed the train in Seney and headed northward to remote river country east of Muskallonge Lake. Runners in the 50K and Marathon will have the opportunity to travel via single track through this country on their journey past wilderness lakes, wild rivers on their way to the finish at the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. This week's group is the Inland String Band is a Northern Michigan Celtic, Bluegrass, Traditional, Roots/Folk Band which offers a variety of songs, musical styles, and humor. THE HAUNTED TRAIL
Kick off your family Halloween events right! Hike the Haunted Trail as ghouls, goblins, and gremlins dance among the pumpkins, pines, and pitchforks. Held at Sawmill Creek Township Park just north of Paradise on Whitefish Point Road. The trail is open from 7:00 -10:00 pm. Admission is $7. TAHQUAMENON HARVEST FESTIVAL

EDMUND FITZGERALD MEMORIAL SERVICE
The Edmund Fitzgerald was lost with her entire crew of 29 men on Lake Superior November 10, 1975, 17 miles north-northwest of Whitefish Point, Michigan. Each year, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum hosts a memorial service for surviving family members and the community. It is at this time that the community reflects on the lives lost in Lake Superior.
