35th WILD BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL
Since 1984, during the third weekend in August the Paradise area celebrates their local heritage, wild blueberries. An arts and craft fair, strolling and stage entertainment, kid's craft tent, wagon rides, and wonderful local food are showcase the festivities. Music On The Bay
This is a FREE Music Concert Series on the Bay-side of the Whitefish Township Community Center. This week's artist is February Sky Band. February Sky is traditional singer and Celtic guitarist Phil Cooper with songwriter and singer Susan Urban. Phil sings and plays his own arrangements of traditional songs and tunes on six string guitar and cittern, and he also interprets a number of carefully chosen songs from the best of modern Folk song writers, as well as backing Susan up on her songs. Susan Urban is a writer of story songs and humorous "slice of life" songs. She accompanies her songs, plus Philís songs and tunes, on six and 12-string guitar, six string banjo, mountain dulcimer, hand percussion instruments and Native American Style flute. Phil and Susan present a combination of old and new songs addressing the widest possible range of experience, complete with vocal harmony, intricate instrumentation and thoughtful stagecraft.

TAHQUAMENON WILDERNESS CANOE RACE
"The Great Race from the Lower Falls to Lake Superior" is the perfect way to start the morning. This 17 1/2 mile, two-person (C-2) canoe race starts at 10:00 AM. A shorter (6 1/2 mile) one-person race (C-1) begins at 3:30 PM at the Tahquamenon River Mouth. The day's events conclude with a banquet and awards program. 20th TAHQUAMENON COUNTRY SLED DOG RACE
Qualifying Race for the UP 200. Begins and ends at the Muskallonge Lake State Park campground area. With an estimated purse of some $8,000 paid to the PRO Class, the trails include a few steep hills and varied terrain with spectacular winter scenery. TWO HEARTED TRAIL RUN
A 50K, Half & Full Marathon routed in the remote northeastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Two Hearted River captured the imagination of Nobel Laureate Ernest Hemingway who wrote "The Big Two Hearted River" about the adventures of Nick Adams who departed the train in Seney and headed northward to remote river country east of Muskallonge Lake. Runners in the 50K and Marathon will have the opportunity to travel via single track through this country on their journey past wilderness lakes, wild rivers on their way to the finish at the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. Music On The Bay
A FREE Music Concert Series on the Bay-side of the Whitefish Township Community Center. Born and raised at Whitefish Point, Performing this Tuesday is Raaen McLean. Raaen McLean's songs are inspired by that legacy and events of his time. His musical performance includes Folk, Country, Soft Rock and his own original compositions. Raaen's original recording "A Victims Tale", is a haunting imagination of the sinking of the Fitzgerald and was written in 1975. Another of Raaen's original works is titled "Flickering Fire" and is dedicated to his father who delivered mail and shipments from Whitefish Point to Vermillion's Life Saving Station by dog sled. THE HAUNTED TRAIL
Kick off your family Halloween events right! Hike the Haunted Trail as ghouls, goblins, and gremlins dance among the pumpkins, pines, and pitchforks. Held at Sawmill Creek Township Park just north of Paradise on Whitefish Point Road. The trail is open from 7:00 -10:00 pm. Admission is $7. EDMUND FITZGERALD MEMORIAL SERVICE
The Edmund Fitzgerald was lost with her entire crew of 29 men on Lake Superior November 10, 1975, 17 miles north-northwest of Whitefish Point, Michigan. Each year, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum hosts a memorial service for surviving family members and the community. It is at this time that the community reflects on the lives lost in Lake Superior.
