WHITEFISH POINT MARATHON Run from the Whitefish Township Emergency Services facility upbound(north) on Whitefish Point Road to Whitefish Point, then back to Whitefish Township Community Center, located across the road from the starting point. JUNE 26

TWO HEARTED TRAIL RUN A 50K, Half & Full Marathon routed in the remote northeastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Two Hearted River captured the imagination of Nobel Laureate Ernest Hemingway who wrote "The Big Two Hearted River" about the adventures of Nick Adams who departed the train in Seney and headed northward to remote river country east of Muskallonge Lake. Runners in the 50K and Marathon will have the opportunity to travel via single track through this country on their journey past wilderness lakes, wild rivers on their way to the finish at the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. TAHQUA TRAIL RUN Trail race hosted by Great Lakes Endurance, LLC. Distances include 10K and 25K, both finishing at the Upper Falls. Pre-registration required online.

WILD BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL  2021 Event Cancelled Due to COVID-19 Since 1984, during the third weekend in August the Paradise area celebrates their local heritage, wild blueberries. An arts and craft fair, strolling and stage entertainment, kid's craft tent, wagon rides, and wonderful local food are showcase the festivities. TAHQUAMENON WILDERNESS CANOE RACE "The Great Race from the Lower Falls to Lake Superior" is the perfect way to start the morning. This 17 1/2 mile, two-person (C-2) canoe race starts at 10:00 AM. A shorter (6 1/2 mile) one-person race (C-1) begins at 3:30 PM at the Tahquamenon River Mouth. The day's events conclude with a banquet and awards program. THE HAUNTED TRAIL Kick off your family Halloween events right! Hike the Haunted Trail as ghouls, goblins, and gremlins dance among the pumpkins, pines, and pitchforks. Held at Sawmill Creek Township Park just north of Paradise on Whitefish Point Road. The trail is open from 7:00 -10:00 pm. Admission is $7. Souvenirs, snacks, and beverages are available on sight for additional costs. Have a spookin’ good time! Check their spooky website!

EDMUND FITZGERALD MEMORIAL SERVICE The Edmund Fitzgerald was lost with her entire crew of 29 men on Lake Superior November 10, 1975, 17 miles north-northwest of Whitefish Point, Michigan. Each year, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum hosts a memorial service for surviving family members and the community. It is at this time that the community reflects on the lives lost in Lake Superior. PARADISE ANNUAL BAZAAR Shop for beautifully handcrafted Christmas gifts by UP area crafters! Chili, Hot Dogs & Cinnamon Rolls at the refreshment counter will be available! Join in the fun and start your Christmas holiday in Paradise. The Bazaar starts at 10:00 AM and runs until 3:00 PM at the Whitefish Township Community Center.
